In 2000 I purchased a 1975 50cc Yamaha moped for the purposes of getting around town. I quickly discovered it was too slow and too dangerous. I took the new rider program through the Base motorcycle club and successfully completed all portions to have a full license prior to the GLP program coming into effect.
Very soon after I purchased a 1981 Honda CB750 and within a summer I was riding through the Rockies and all over lower BC.
In 2003 I purchased my 01 Honda Shadow ACE 750. On that machine I have ridden from Alaska and Yukon to California and Nevada. To New Orleans and back via the “Dragon“ in Tennessee, MT Rushmore in S. Dakota, Yellowstone N.P in Montana and southern Alberta and BC.
In 2006 Bill Laughlin, Britt Santokowski and others gave me instructor training at VISC. I went back to instruct for the base motorcycle club until 2009 when VISC shut down our training operations.
In 2009 and 2010 I was mentored by Randy Eckert at Saferway and in 2011 worked for Jamie Quinte at Learn to Ride.
In 2014, my wife, Shannon and I purchased the business from Jamie, who continues his association with Learn to Ride by providing mechanical support and business insight.
On my deployments I have ridden scooters and motorcycles in S.E. Asia, Australia, Hawaii and Eastern Canada.
I look forward to sharing my riding experience through stories and practical applications throughout your training on course.
